Good News, Great Joy and Breakthroughs

“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. “(Luke 2:10-11, ESV)

Have you ever prayed for, waited for, longed for, begged for a breakthrough? Have you ever gotten an answer just when you needed it? Finally heard a faint breath at a time when the silence of God had lasted longer than you’d ever known?

I think we have all felt it--the darkened quiet just before the Son breaks through, the darkest darkness just before the smallest hint of light, the quietest quiet just before the slightest whisper of hope.

It was just such a night when a Child was born, a Son given. The Fullness of God broke through the heavens and all of Heaven broke into song as Jesus broke into our world. God became one of us and, with that, every breakthrough we’d ever need was made possible.

What a night, and oh what great joy! The fresh night air blew across Jesus’ newborn face with kisses from above. God’s own Son was wrapped in cloths and cradled in His mother’s waiting arms.

The Deliverer Himself was delivered and our deliverance was made possible. A Savior was sent to our sin-sick world and the angels sang a magnificent song. What good news of great joy!

Just as sure as the Infant’s cries from the feed trough reached Heaven, so do ours. The same Jesus who came as a baby also carried the cross to Calvary and was crucified.

Then after conquering death he crossed over into Heaven and took His seat beside the Father. Our risen Lord is alive! Yet there is more good news of great joy!

When Jesus ascended to Heaven, He asked the Father to send the Spirit and now The Spirit, His Spirit, The Holy Spirit lives in the hearts of His people.

The wind of His presence blows across us like kisses from Heaven. His radiance breaks through and He fills the blackest darkness with the most brilliant light. The silence we experience can sometimes be deafening but He speaks into the quiet with the most glorious whispers. He dispels darkness and chases away silence. He never tires of helping us because He is The Helper. He will always counsel us for He is The Counselor. And through Him, we can experience spiritual, relational, and circumstantial breakthroughs.

Need a breakthrough? Not a problem because God has just the one you need. Cry out to the Father, fix your eyes on Jesus, and feel the wind of the Spirit as He showers you with blessings from above and whispers of hope from within. Sing with the angels Jesus’ praise and rejoice always in Him, for He is, forever and always, good news of great joy!
